A Review Site Empire with WFReview

If you haven’t heard yet, bb_wolfe and his crew from wicked fire have finally released their review plugin for wordpress. I don’t own many scripts because I like to do things myself but I saw so much potential in this script that I just had to buy it and here is why.

With this review script you can make sites in like 15mins. Seriously.  With some basic knowledge of scrapers and wordpress you can build a site with hundreds if not thousands of pages. It also has an option to generate reviews for these posts so your site isn’t totally empty when people get to it.

I only just got the script working this weekend so my empire is a bit lacking at the moment. It seems they didn’t have a version that worked with Macs but they fixed it for me and came out with an update. Using a scraper that I got from a great guy on wicked fire I was able to scrape my local yellow pages and export an entire category as a csv file.

I uploaded the file to the plugin and set up my template and categories from the csv. Hit go and my new site instantly had over 150 pages. I then generated 1-3 reviews for each post and my site was done.  I took a few hours digging though wordpress templates to find one that could suit my site and niche I added adsense to the page and started a bit of SEO.

I had to go with adsense on my first site because the niche doesn’t really go to well with affiliate ads but many other niches would just fine! Ive got big plans for this script and you should to!  I didn’t want to recommend it to people until I used it my self and I saw the bugs were worked out so I had to wait until now to post about it. But man I am amazed! If you can’t make money with this thing you need to seriously quit the internet.

Now I had planed on give out my page so you guys could see how badass this thing is, but it doesn’t have enough SEO power behind it yet to keep you guys out of my shit. So I wont be posting it now but maybe in a follow up post later when I am killing the niche.  So I will just hint at the stuff you can do.

Time to think of niches again bitches, I hope you remember your lessons from my eBay post. With this review script you are either going to shoot for products or services. Laptops, Dentists, Hardware stores just about anything you can think of is fair game for this script. Spend some time thinking up shit and plugging it into wordtracker to see what you have to work with. I recommend trying to find services that are local to your town since most small businesses don’t really know anything about SEO so you will have better luck beating them than you would an online camera store.

So once you get your site up you have a ton of options to monetize it. You can go adsense, private ads, paid links, phpbay, or affiliate products and banners. Now go out and buy the thing and start making money!

Visit the site for the WFReview WordPress Plugin or if you are the last person on earth without phpbay you better go visit them to!

Special 25% Off Coupon: After talking to the guy at WFReview they are allowing me to use a special WFReview Coupon which will give my readers 25% off the price of this script. You can read that post here and make sure to use my link.

Update Fed 4th: I now have 6 websites built out using this tool and with each site I am getting faster and faster at making them. All 6 now have their SEO blast outsourced and are awating their flood of links. I expect the script to pay for its self in a week time.

A Million Dollars in Small Classified Ads!

So in my never ending quest to find new traffic sources I decided to go out on the line and try a small classified ads! I mean if it worked for that guy on tv its got to work for me!

So here is the low down… after finding out about NationWideAdvertising.com and for the first time actually seeing how much these things cost I figured what the heck. So I set aside some testing cash and dug threw their site and their listings. My target was to capture old ladies that like coupons so I decided to advertise in the Penny Saver. For $250 I was going to have my little ad in 3 million of these bad boys.

The offer I picked to promote with this idea was the Cash4Gold offer at Convert2Media. Old ladies, coupons, money for old jewelry… it all seemed like a perfect match.  I wrote my ad, which was pretty simple ‘Domain.com – Do you have old unused jewelry? etc etc’ you get the point.

I went cheap with the idea and just bought 1 domain that was really short and redirected it to the offer page. No phone number was in the ad but the domain name was listed twice.  So ive got my ad, ive got my lp, all I needed to do was wait for all of the people that read penny saver to find my ad and get their gold pack!

Well…its been 2 weeks since the ad ran. I was told it was going to run for a week in all mid west penny savers and get me my 3 million prints. The results for sure are now in!

1 Click. That’s right. With my $250 my domain in my text ad got 1 click. I don’t even know if the click came from the penny saver ad or from a reviewer at the company. But it didn’t convert so it doesn’t matter anyway.

So what happened? Well it seems no one really reads the penny saver. I had assumed anyone who did in that small 5-10% of them would be the perfect target but it seems they were not. Also I realized that most of these people were problem not big computer users. So just having a website probably wasn’t the wisest choice.

Lesson learned?

  • Don’t do print with out a phone number.
  • Pick a paper that you actually get so you have proof your ad even ran.
  • Pick a paper that more people read or even pay to read.
  • Its not easy to make a million dollars in small print ads.

Good luck if your planing to try it. Ill stick to people already at their computers.

New Look, Same Great Taste!

I am still recovering from ASW and my gf getting me sick as soon as I got home. So things have been slow going around here as the recovery process is taking twice as long as it should.

Anyway if you hadn’t noticed BeerMonies has a brand new look! The old theme was great and all but it just wasn’t super affiliate enough. I mean you gotta have ads for your networks and other fancy stuff right? I even have a option to buy ads now! Though I would highly recommend that you don’t since I just randomly put in a number to use the script.

Hopefully I can toy around with this theme a bit more and make the site even more uber than it is. Also more new posts will be coming just let me get rid of this cold.

Affiliate Summit West Wrap Up

My first affiliate summit was a blast. I am sure it could have turned out better but I am not sure how.

My goals for initial affiliate summit were.

  • Meet people & make business connections.

Thanks to wickedfire and #cakes chat and this blog this was way easier than I thought it would be.  Having already known a good group of guys online was really great because it made introductions easy.  I would say this goal was a total success, I met tons of people and business contacts. I now have 5 new verticals I am going to be looking into.

  • Take a shit ton of photos to fill my empty blog gallery.

Totally failed here.. I have never been much of a camera whore or the guy that loves to bust out the camera. But I had thought it would be funny to have photos with all the major names in AM just for laughs. So… now I get to rely on photos taken by others to fill the gallery. So far ive only come across a few, I am sure more will turn up later.

  • Acquire as much network shwag as possible since I got jack shit for Christmas from them. (Ive made business cards just for this.)

Pretty successful here to, I never did get my stakeboard deck from akmng but I did come away with a fair bit of stuff. In the shots above of my loot.

  • Meet up with my affiliate managers/networks.

Also did pretty good here. I got to met my contacts at ads4dough, convert2media, pepperjam, and copeac. Sadly I was never able to catch Geoff at advaliant or Jim at xy7 guess ill have to catch them later.

All in all I had a great time. I met tons of people and partied like a rock star at several clubs. My campaigns did well and I even won money playing roulette at the casino.  If you have never been to an affiliate summit you have to go and check it out! Everyone had a great time and we have a TON of stories to tell.

Finding a Niche for Noobs & Pros

Everyday I see people on forums and chat rooms going on about getting started with eBay or some random other affiliate program. They go on about not knowing what a niche is and how they can’t figure this stuff out.

So here you go, I am giving out ANOTHER free niche that you can try or use as an  example. I am losing possible $ giving this out so you better learn something from it!

I was dicking around on eBay looking for some thing to show this dude that weird food crap that I used to see years ago. Like food shaped like shit. (No this is not the niche) While digging though the weird shit section of eBay I kept finding funny shit to post in the chatroom and then I came across a product that claimed to restore your foreskin if you had been circumcised. Item linked here. Ok so now we have a weird ass contraption that is going to stretch your penis to give you foreskin again. What a fucking joke.. or is it.

After seeing such a stupid ass item I popped it into wordtracker. The results can be found here. Amazingly enough there is actually search volume for this shit!  470 search for this one keyword example. You can guess other ones… foreskin, circumcised, shit like that. I bet you could come up with a pretty good KW list with some decent search volume.

Now we go to Google and check this stuff out our selves. Holy shit the ad block is full! Some are shit ads like eBay and Amazon but that is a sure sign of cheap ass clicks. I wont give the link out but I even found a few landing pages. Now this is to great… how the hell has this gone unnoticed! Oh I know…because it’s a fucking niche!

Yes that’s right THIS is a niche,  wii is not, cameras is not, electronics shit is not. All that stuff is lame as shit and is only good for noobs wasting money. You need to go deep people!  I have an uncle that has a factory that makes plastic buckets for chirst sake and he is loaded.  This is truly what a niche is make note of it!

Now I just gave out a perfectly good niche that I almost decided to run myself due to its awesomeness but I need content for the blog and im busy with other shit. So now that you have this great niche with little competition and cheap clicks.  But now you need a product to promote.

Well from looking at the current ads your options are to find these contraptions, use eBay, or do what they are already doing. I noticed the guys already there are selling ebooks so I hit up clickbank which is famous for shitty ebooks and guess what.  There it is, the same damn ebook they are selling with a $13 payout! See the ebooks here.

So you now have the niche, the keywords and the product. There is currently probably about 3 people in this niche judging from the ads. Lord only knows how long they have been chilling there banking on this obscure shit. For you 3 guys already in there I am sorry. I hope you are not counting on this paying your rent.

Now go make money and find real niches, they are everywhere.

Cont. Tax/Corporate Advise

When I met with my accountant a week or so ago to talk about paying state taxes he mentioned that I had to sign up with the department of revenue with the state and the sate unemployment agency to pay taxes to them to. I don’t see why I have to pay unemployment and a single employee 100% owned corporation but he said I had to and it wasn’t going to be much. Good news if affiliate marketing goes to shit I can get free money from the government!

So I signed up for all this crap as he told me and sent him the info for the accounts since he needs to have it to do my taxes. Today I get a letter from the unemployment people. It seems that I now owe them $500 in late fees for not signing up with them before 12/30/08 and then I still owe them whatever retarded tax they have. Great so in a week period I just lost another 1k to the government.

Advice time. As a affiliate marketer if you start doing major numbers you have to incorporate or your going to get fucked over really hard on taxes. I made a LLC S-Corp as many others have done and I thought I did everything needed. Seems I was wrong. There is no manual for a corporation, when you make one they don’t tell you shit. I had no idea I had to pay unemployment until a week ago. No book I had ever read mentioned it, no forum, and no one personally told me. (I think its intentionally this way so the government can scam you out of cash with late fees.)

When you start your coporation you need to find this shit out ASAP. Now that you know about it make sure to ask your accountant how to sign up and where to do it before it catches up to you. I am really pissed off that he did not mention this stuff to me before it was to late, but its partialy my own fault for thinking this stuff was easy and that I took care of it all. Find this shit out and get it out the way as fast as possible and don’t move to Minnesota.

UPDATE: I made several pohone calls today and it seems when I registerd with the state I set my date of incorporation as the first date I took wages, insted of 12/31/08 so I was able to fix that and have the $500 in fines removed. Phew!

Contests Contests Contests!

So my buddy nickycakes posted a top 10 lists of horrible make money sites on his blog. I finally got around to reading it and I saw the blogs of all these “super affiliates” which I have heard of but I never went to their sites.

So I hit up Tyler Cruze’s site and find the token super affiliate cartoon guy so now I know this guy is legit.  I mean all super affiliates need a cartoon guy which is why I have one but mine is from istock. So I read a couple of posts and it seems for the last 7 months all he has done is have affiliate contests! Sign up under his link make him money and you could win a crap ton of prizes.  The top prize for 100k in revenue is a Segway!

After this I hit up Zac Johnson’s website for the first time ever.. token cartoon guy so I know I am at the right place and guess what.. Another contest! Same network as a few of tyler’s to, seems motive and xyz are giving out tons of shit to get more publishers. Same thing…sign up under him make him free cash get prizes.  Top prize for 300k revenue is a freaking smart car. Though I highly doubt he will ever get a guy doing 300k a MONTH under him. But hey if it works for him..

Anyway I am starting to see a pattern here..to be a true super affiliate my goal needs to be to get as many readers as possible and then hold monthly contests, or constantly post about how much money my blog is making. Ill have to make that one of my goals for 2009….

I want to note a few things though. I do a fair bit online, this month I will probably break 100k in revenue NOT PROFIT. So these things are really tempting, I would love a free Segway but I trust my main network (Ad4sDough) and I know I am not getting raped by scrubbed leads. That Segway is tempting but who do you think is really going to pay for it in the end…

I found this baby when I was doing my accounting for the end of the year. I logged into CJ pulled up a report and almost died laughing. Now.. this is funny since this advertiser was only on 3 websites that I made a year ago as a noob. 2 of these domains were taken from me by major C&D orders and the other is a subdomain that I don’t think has gotten more than 8 visits in a year. Last month if magicly got 4 clicks and one of these 4 people decided to buy 1,045.00 in cosmetics! Making me 156.75!

Now I do use ebay and someone once bought a boat which banked me like $14 but this just seemed diffrent. This is proof postive that having dead sites/lps on the net can still make you cash. Check it out.
