Tax Lessons Learned A Few Months To Late

Today I got totally punched in the face by my accountant. Seems I am going to owe the government a good 25k in taxes. Now of course I have been setting some money aside for taxes but that was like 20% I want not expecting him to tell me I should have been doing 25-33% in taxes! Thirty three fucking percent!!

Ive got the cash yeah.. but that shit was mine. I was planning on buying a new car or an investment house in 2009 but that idea just got a kick in swift kick in the balls.

Shit I wish I knew…
1)    I just moved from Florida to Minnesota. Florida has no state tax because they have a high sales tax to get tourists. Minnesota HAS state tax and its like 6%. Just by moving here I lost $12,000 a year in taxes. I never thought of factoring in shit like that in my cost of living. My cost of living here for the year just doubled! Before you move you and your business ANYWHERE check that shit out before moving!
2)    My accountant is legit. I knew I needed one..I didn’t know anyone up here nor where to go so I called a guy in the phone book. He is a great accountant sure but he is ‘white hat’. He set my salary for the year as 2/3rd of the business profits. Which is all well in good but if it was 0 like some of you fuckers pay my taxes would have been cut in half!! When you meet with a perspective accountant talk to him about this shit. I had no idea and left it to his capable hands and now I owe a shit ton more money in taxes. Thanks.

It pisses me off knowing that if I was still in Florida and I had a grey hat accountant I would have an extra 20k in my hands right fucking now.
