The big G knows way too much. Sometimes too much for their own good. This obviously states how they were wrong to box you. One thing I usually do is build single links at first to try to avoid the sandbox on a fresh domain. Great find here though. Relentless!!!

Interesting, I had the same thing just happen to me, where I was climbing the ranks for a particular keyword of interest and then, wham, I'm nowhere to be found. I'm speculating as to what happened, I grew to about 230 links in a week and a half and am not sure if google thinks that was too quick. Anyone know what google thinks to be natural growth?

Well this is an incredibly interesting post. I have a shitty shared hosting account with GoDaddy that I've had forever that I've used for testing stuff and it has basically had the same problem. Anything I throw up on there gets a little honeymoon traffic and then withers up and dies.

Perhaps it is time for a hosting exodus.

I've made quite a few new sites on hostgator and haven't really noticed anything, but I typically let them age a bit before developing fully.
